BOLDRE, a village and a parish in Lymington district, Hants. The village stands on the Lymington river, near the Lymington branch railway, 2½ miles N of Lymington; and has a post office under Lymington.
-The parish includes also the tythings of South Baddesley, Battramsley, Pilley and Warborne, Sway and Walhampton. Boldre parish church sits atop its hillock kilometres (1 mile) from the village centre. The church structure can be traced back to the lateth century.
Built of ashlar and chalk rubble with flints, the original fabric was enlarged and refashioned in the 13th and 14th centuries, and there have been numerous other alterations and additions. A new union workhouse was erected in at the north side of the junction of New Street and East Hill in Lymington, adjacent to the parish workhouse site.
